Louisiana has made a big change in who can recover after an auto accident. The insurance lobby convinced the legislature to make it so that anyone who is found 51% liable for the accident cannot recover any damages. The old rule allowed you to recover regardless of your percentage of fault but that your damages would be reduced to that percentage.

Louisiana Tort Reform continues to hurt victims in favor of big insurance while insurance companies continue to make record profits. A victim should not be punished for the fact they have spent their own hard-earned money on their own health insurance while financially rewarding the big auto insurance company that insures the person who caused the accident.
